In the world of printing there are as many types of models as the user needs. Today we want to talk to you about a model that can become your ally if you have a medium-high print volume or want a team that is up to your professionalism. I would not recommend it in a home environment where there is little printing, but for an office or a company it can be a good purchase option. We are talking about the Epson EcoTank ET-4700 multifunction , a model that is around 400 euros and that offers a lot of advantages and reasons for it to be chosen and not another.
Epson EcoTank ET-4700: Design
As we said, this Epson ET-4700 is a model focused on a professional audience and this is reflected from the first glance. It’s 375 x 347 x 237mm in size and 5kg in weight , making it a pretty robust printer. It is available in black and highlights its front, in which a 3.7-inch LCD screen takes center stage from which you can see all the information you need about your printing, possible errors that may arise during the process, folders, functions, ink status … not touch, but you can scroll through the menus with the buttons that appear on the right side. In this keypad, in addition to the navigation keys, a numeric keyboard also appears since, as we will see later, one of its functions is to send a fax.
The loading of cartridges is in the front, something that we find very comfortable, however, we would have liked to see a loading of paper also in the front, in a type of closed tray that we have seen in other models and it seems to us the best option. In this Epson EcoTank ET-4700 the paper is loaded at the back and is in vertical format, so it stands out from the printer itself. Also in the back is the power and Ethernet port, something correct to try to hide the cables as much as possible, but also the USB, a port that should have been located elsewhere to make its access more convenient.
In short, the design of this Epson EcoTank ET-4700 leaves us lights and shadows. It is beautiful, elegant, strong and gives a very professional image to our office or office, however, it has some details that could have been polished, especially to make the user experience more comfortable.
Functions
This Epson EcoTank ET-4700 is a 4-in-1: you can print, scan, copy and fax (all in color or black and white, as you decide at the time). It has a paper loading capacity of 100 sheets , but keep in mind that the output capacity is 30 sheets . That is, every 30 pages you will have to empty the tray so that it does not get stuck.
It prints double-sided , which is extremely useful, but you have to know that it does not scan or copy double-sided. The print speed is 33 ppm for black and white documents or 15 ppm for color documents and allows the paper tray to be adapted for formats up to A4. The print resolution is 5760 x 1440 DPI.
As for the scan data , it reaches a resolution of 1200 x 2400 DPI , while if we want to send faxes we will have a transmission speed of 3 sec / page and an automatic redial.
Wireless connectivity is very present in this equipment and although it has an Ethernet port and a USB port, you can print directly from your mobile or tablet thanks to WiFi and WiFi Direct and the Epson iPrint app.
Finally, it is inevitable to think about the issue of ink, one of the great concerns when we acquire this type of device. Because consumables can drive up the cost of printing a lot.
