Bravia CORE: 4K streaming service from Sony

Sony has officially launched Bravia CORE streaming service. As promised by the company’s representatives, access to the service will receive new models of Bravia XR, including the A90J, Z9J, A80J, X95J and X90J. The service works on Pure Stream technology at bitrates of 30-80 Mbps, delivering 4K, including with immersive DTS sound. So, to work with it, a confident 100-megabit connection may not be enough.

But Sony promised “the largest collection of films in the IMAX Enhanced format.” There are fifty films available to Bravia XR owners “anytime, as many times as they want, in up to 4K HDR quality.” Titles include Baby Drive, Lovely Day Next Door, and Little Women.

However, not all Bravia XR owners are equal in relation to Bravia CORE. Sony marketers have introduced a system of deadlines and points (points or credits). For example, owners of the top models A90J or Z9J will get free access to the service for 24 months and 10 credits that can be spent on 4K movies available on the pay-per-view service.

Full review coming soon!

These include Venom, Ghostbusters, Blade Runner 2049 and Jumanji: The Next Level. The rest of the Bravia XR models are entitled to five credits and 12 months of free access.

At the same time, there is no information about the availability of the service in different countries, or about what will happen after the expiration of the prescribed period. For now, according to Sony, movies on Bravia CORE will be available to watch until February 23, 2026.

According to Sony, this video service will be able to provide video content quality close to 4K Blu-ray – up to 80 Mbps. The proprietary Pure Stream technology is responsible for this, and to play video in maximum quality, you will need an Internet connection with a minimum speed of 115 Mbps.

True, this service will be available only on the latest Sony TVs from the Bravia XR series – moreover, depending on the model, the user will receive a certain number of points, and for these points he will already be able to buy films to watch.

The time during which you can watch this or that content also depends on the TV model. So, owners of Z9J, A90J, A80CJ and X90CJ models will receive 10 points each, and the rest – 5 points each.

According to the company, users will have access to “the largest collection of IMAX Enhanced films.” Of course, there is also HDR support. According to the company’s website, the service will work for a limited time and in fact is a kind of promotion that will allow the XR series to be revealed in all its glory.

Owners of Z9J, A90J, A80CJ and X90CJ TVs will have access to the service for two years from the date of registration, and owners of X95J, X92, X90J, A80CJ, X91CJ and X80CJ TVs – for a year.
