Apple acquires startup AI Music to update branded music services

Apple recently acquired AI Music, a seemingly off-the-shelf AI music processing startup. The hitherto modest interest in AI Music’s activities skyrocketed after this event. And, although the AI Music site was closed immediately after the deal, it turned out that in fact we are talking about automatic arrangements of existing musical material.

AI Music technologies called Infinite Music Engine will allow you to change the tempo up to “synchronization with the beating of your heart,” as it was said on the now defunct startup website. You can also change the style of sound – make it more “electronic” or, conversely, “acoustic”.

How seriously AI Music is capable of changing arrangements is not yet clear. It is only clear that if we are talking about editing or adding parties (audio tracks) to existing material and inconsistent use of musical themes, then the matter may well come to a conflict with the copyright holders.

On the other hand, such AI technology could very well be a feature in Apple Music or an option for creating soundtracks for Apple TV+ shows. As for training in Apple Fitness +, then adjusting the tempo and character of the sound to suit your abilities and moods may turn out to be a real find. Potential legal problems are unlikely to stop Apple – its lawyers have proven their professionalism more than once.
