The new AMD Threadripper set three world records at once

THE NEW THREADRIPPER SET THREE WORLD RECORDS AT ONCE

Yesterday, November 15, the publication VideoCardz, citing its sources, reported that a well-known overclocker under the nickname Sampson was able to set three world records in benchmarks on the new generation flagship processor AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX, which is valued by the manufacturer at $9,999. However, the main achievement is not only that the enthusiast was able to achieve records, but also that for this he did not use liquid nitrogen, like most overclockers on the planet. He managed to achieve incredibly high results using a completely ordinary tower cooler.

To cool the flagship-level processor, the enthusiast used the IceGiant ProSiphon Elite cooler, which is equipped with an enlarged radiator and four fans with a blade diameter of 120 mm. However, the secret of this installation is that a special system with a dielectric liquid is used inside, so in a sense it is a mixture of a tower and a liquid-liquid system, but without a pump (the circulation process is entrusted to the laws of physics). Such an installation weighs 2 kilograms and theoretically it should dissipate up to 350 W of heat, but the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX during overclocking consumed and, accordingly, emitted much more – at peak loads the enthusiast registered a power consumption of 980 W.

At maximum load, the processor heated up to 102 C, which may seem prohibitive to many, since you can boil water, but in fact, some 14th generation Intel processors can heat up to 115 C. That is, the AMD processor worked at a relatively adequate temperature , which is allowed according to the “passport”, demonstrating simply outrageous results in Cinebench R15, R20 and R23. To understand the picture, in Cinebench R23 the new generation processor scored 161 thousand points, while the previous record in the same benchmark was only 123 thousand points. An increase of 40 thousand points is 33% more than the previous record holder, so AMD really worked hard on the new chip.

But, probably, in the near future the record will be much more impressive. You need to understand that the processor was overclocked and sent to perform synthetic tests based on the ASUS WS TRX50 SAGE motherboard with DDR5-6400 RAM. Naturally, there are much faster memory kits on the market (although they also have higher CL latencies), plus if liquid nitrogen is used, you can get significantly more points.
