MSi has officially entered the mini PC market. The manufacturer of computer equipment and accessories introduced two series of Cubi and Pro DP computers at once. And this is against the backdrop of Intel’s recent announcement to stop manufacturing NUC devices. True, despite leaving the market, Intel intends to continue working with partners in this direction, and even reached an agreement with ASUS to create a mini-PC under its leadership. Other manufacturers have so far decided to follow their own path in the development of similar products. Among them is MSi.
Cubi is entry-level devices, they are tiny, and Pro DP are powerful PCs with “adult” processors
MSi currently has four mini PCs: Cubi 5, Cubi N, Pro DP10 and Pro DP21. The first two are compact in size and belong to the entry level. These models ship with 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake and Alder Lake-N processors, and support expandable RAM and storage. Cubi 5 and Cubi N are equipped with all the necessary ports and connectors, as well as wireless interfaces. Other features:
- Support for three displays and resolutions up to 4K / 8K UHD;
- Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2;
- Dual LAN;
- Windows 11;
- Standard VESA mount.
The Pro DP series can be seen as a higher end offering. There is already a larger body, but at the same time quite compact. The Pro DP10 13M comes with 13th Gen Raptor Lake-P processors and the Pro DP21 13M comes with Raptor Lake-S Non-K desktop processors. There is even a configuration with a 16-core Core i7-13700 on an H610 chip. There are more ports and connectors, and the Pro DP10 13M has two slots for M.2 drives.
MSi Pro DP Series
MSI’s new mini PCs are designed primarily for enterprise and office use, but no one forbids using them at home for any task and entertainment. The cost of the devices and release dates are still unknown.
