Gigabyte confirms RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 specs and gamers will be disappointed

GIGABYTE CONFIRMS RTX 4070 AND RTX 4060 SPECS
GIGABYTE CONFIRMS RTX 4070 AND RTX 4060 SPECS

Today, March 20, the Videocardz news outlet, citing its sources, reported that Gigabyte, through negligence, officially confirmed the characteristics of the upcoming RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 video cards from NVIDIA, as well as the very fact of their existence.

The fact is that the indices of future available models of the RTX 40 line appeared on the official website of the company in the support section, after which, of course, they were quickly deleted, but users managed to take screenshots. And if you believe this information, the built-in video memory of future new products is not so much by modern standards – the manufacturer, apparently, decided to rely on the availability of the component base, so that in the end the cost of video cards would be really low.

For example, the official website listed the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 AERO OC video card with the GV-N4070AERO OC-12G index and, accordingly, 12 GB of internal video memory. It is worth recalling that earlier it was this amount of memory that was reported by insiders.

One can conclude that if the RTX 3070 had only 8 GB of internal video memory, then the RTX 4070 received a significant upgrade, but it actually makes more sense (based on price and performance) to compare the RTX 4070 with the RTX 3080, and it had exactly the same memory – 12 GB. At the same time, the RTX 3080 used a rather wide 384-bit bus, while the new RTX 4070, according to insiders, will receive a bus of only 192 bits, that is, the memory will work slower.

It turns out the available new-generation video cards cannot boast of impressive characteristics.

It turns out the available new-generation video cards cannot boast of impressive characteristics.

But if the situation looks more or less decent with the RTX 4070, then the real trouble is with the RTX 4060. The fact is that on the official website of the partner company NVIDIA, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4060 Gaming OC with the code GV-N4060GAMING OC-8GD is indicated, that is, this video card will receive only 8 GB of video memory.

Accordingly, a gamer can buy a new generation video card, but he simply won’t be able to play some AAA releases due to the limitation on the amount of internal memory, since some large projects require 10 GB already this year. In addition, the manufacturer for this video card will use a 128-bit bus, that is, it is extremely narrow and there can be no talk of any fast data transfer.

Unfortunately, so far there is no confirmation of the rest of the rumors regarding the GPU, its characteristics and power consumption of upcoming models. And, of course, nothing is said about the prices of new items – gamers still cannot determine how affordable the new items will really be.
