Loongson Technology introduced the Loongson 3D5000 32-core processor. It was known about its development a year ago, but only now the manufacturer from the Celestial Empire has made an official presentation. This is a model for the server segment, it is not suitable for installation in ordinary personal computers.

The 3D5000 processor does not use the ARM architecture, it is based on its own development – LoongArch ISA
The 3D5000 processor does not use the ARM architecture, it is based on its own development – LoongArch ISA. According to its authors, it is four times faster than the British ARM. In fact, this is a dual processor LS3C5000, which was introduced a little earlier this year.

The processor is built on two chiplets with 16 LA464 cores. Each chiplet is manufactured using a 12nm process. The cores can operate at 2 GHz while consuming 130 watts of electricity. In overclocking mode, when the frequency reaches 2.2 GHz, power consumption increases by 40 watts. The processor operates 64 MB of L3 cache and supports DDR4-3200 RAM.

The processor is based on the LoongArch ISA architecture of our own design and is intended for workstations
The test sample is made in the LGA 4129 package, its TDP is 300 W, and the FP64 performance is 1 TFLOPS. It is reported that up to four Loongson 3D5000 processors can be installed on one board. Loongson Technology intends to start deliveries to interested partners in the first half of this year.
