A total of seven 2023 Kia models were affected by the recall. After repair at the dealer, they will be returned to the owners.

Kia is launching a large-scale recall campaign, which covers almost 109,000 vehicles of the Korean brand. The reason for the recall was the digital dashboard installed in cars, which can fail.

The South Korean manufacturer will recall 108,936 units of the Kia Soul, Telluride, Niro Hybrid, Niro Plug-In Hybrid, Sportage, Sportage Hybrid and Sportage Plug-In Hybrid equipped with a 4.2-inch LCD instrument cluster. It turned out that due to software and electrical noise due to voltage instability, when starting the car, a boot error occurs on the dashboard screen, due to which it does not turn on and the driver cannot see important information about his vehicle while driving. A broken screen can cause an accident, although the automaker claims it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to said problem.

Kia will notify owners of recalled vehicles to visit the nearest dealership to correct the problem. Repair work will be carried out at the expense of the manufacturer. And owners who have already fixed the problem with the dashboard at their own expense can receive compensation from the manufacturer.

Kia first became aware of a potential issue with the dashboard display in February 2023. In March, the company identified 71 vehicles affected by the issue. In April, six more copies joined them, after which it was decided to announce a recall.

It is worth noting that this is not the first Kia recall in recent times. So, in April, the company launched a large-scale recall campaign for more than 51,000 Carnival minivans due to problems with sliding doors, and in March, Carnival and Telluride became part of the recall due to a high fire risk.
