Yesterday, May 12th, Google officially unveiled a major update to the Android Auto system, with an impressive focus on the emerging market for touch displays in modern cars. The developers of the corporation said that the new interface of the main screen with a division into several elements is now standard for all users of Android Auto. It will allow you to quickly access the key functions of the system – navigation, media player, messages and more. All this will be placed on one screen by default, while previously the split screen was available only to owners of certain car models.
“Now the latest split-screen component experience is available no matter what display type, size or form factor you have,” said Rod Lopez, lead product manager for Android Auto.
The fact is that in the modern car market, manufacturers began to actively use completely different displays of their multimedia systems, showing good imagination. Some screens are presented in portrait orientation, others are implemented in the form of horizontal elongated panels. Google said that now Android Auto will adapt to all modern and future displays, adjusting its interface. For example, vertically oriented screens will populate in a “column” format of components. However, in addition to updating the interface, the developers also introduced some nice features.

Android Auto users now have the ability to reply to text messages with standard responses by simply tapping the desired option on the screen. In addition, the multimedia system now supports streaming of Android Auto streaming services, and Android device owners will be able to stream their content directly to the car screen.
