PSI Audio, a Swiss manufacturer of studio audio equipment, has launched the A 226-MAIN, a new active three-way monitor intended for primary use in recording studios and mastering applications. This model features two 10-inch drivers arranged symmetrically, paired with a newly designed tweeter that includes an aluminum voice coil and a midrange driver known as Extended Dome (EXD). According to the Swiss company, the A226-MAIN active monitor delivers a frequency response spanning from 20 Hz to 23 kHz, achieving a peak sound pressure level of 112 dB in compliance with the AES75 standard.
The A226-MAIN, an all-analog three-way studio speaker system, is referred to as ‘The Big One’ by PSI Audio. This model represents the culmination of the company’s technological advancements and philosophy, standing as the largest speaker ever produced by the Swiss manufacturer. It features two 10″ woofers, a midrange driver, and a tweeter housed in a sturdy, reinforced double MDF enclosure, delivering what the company describes as ‘authentic sound.’
The PSI Audio A226-MAIN active three-way monitors are equipped with dual 10″ low-frequency drivers that utilize a phase-inverted acoustic design, delivering deep and impactful bass free from noise and turbulence. The speakers are positioned on either side of the midrange/high-frequency panel, which can be rotated as needed. This configuration, along with the waveguides, ensures limited vertical dispersion and a broad sweet spot. Additionally, the manufacturer provides a custom speaker stand for optimal monitor placement.
The A226-MAIN professional monitors incorporate all of PSI Audio’s hallmark technologies, including Compensated Phase Response (CPR) filters, Adaptive Output Impedance (AOI) feedback, and fully analog electronics to eliminate delays. Consistent with all PSI Audio products, the A226-MAIN speakers are entirely designed, manufactured, and tuned at the company’s facility in Switzerland, with each monitor accompanied by individual measurement charts.
