TAD Goes Luxe Green: ME1TX Gets a Rare Collector’s Finish

Technical Audio Devices Laboratories (TAD) is adding a bold splash of color to its Evolution Series. The Japanese high-end specialist has unveiled a limited-edition version of its acclaimed ME1TX bookshelf speakers, finished in a striking Luxe Green lacquer. Officially known as the TAD-ME1TX-G Special Set, the release is strictly limited to just 50 pairs worldwide, each supplied with perfectly matching speaker stands.

Originally introduced in early 2025, the standard ME1TX quickly earned a reputation for combining studio-grade precision with elegant domestic design. This new Luxe Green edition keeps everything that made the original special—while turning it into something far rarer and far more visually distinctive.

Technically, the Luxe Green version is identical to the standard TAD-ME1TX-G speakers.

Technically, the Luxe Green ME1TX is identical to the regular production model. The difference is purely aesthetic—but in the world of high-end audio, aesthetics matter. The wooden cabinets are finished in a deep, glossy green lacquer that shifts character with the light, revealing subtle variations in tone and depth. Depending on the room and lighting, the speakers can appear dark and understated or vivid and expressive.

Paired with matching stands, the Luxe Green finish gives the ME1TX a distinctly luxurious, almost bespoke feel. It’s a look that turns a high-end loudspeaker into a design statement, without drifting into excess.

Behind the green exterior, the ME1TX remains very much a TAD at heart. The three-way bookshelf design centers on the brand’s signature 90 mm CST (Coherent Source Transducer), a coaxial driver that places the tweeter at the acoustic center of the midrange unit. This configuration improves phase alignment and creates a wide, stable sweet spot—one of the ME1TX’s defining sonic traits.

The tweeter uses a beryllium diaphragm for exceptional stiffness and low distortion, while the midrange cone is made from magnesium, chosen for its high internal damping. Low frequencies are handled by a dedicated woofer with a MACC (Multi-layered Aramid Composite Cone), designed for speed, control, and tonal accuracy.

Like the standard version, the TAD ME1TX-G features a 90mm CST driver—a coaxial speaker with the tweeter positioned in the center of the midrange.

Sound Meets Collectability

TAD positions the Luxe Green edition as more than just a color variation. The finish is meant to complement the ME1TX’s refined, highly detailed sound, creating a complete sensory experience that blends visual presence with acoustic precision. It’s a speaker designed not only to be heard, but to be admired.

With only 50 pairs available globally, the TAD-ME1TX-G is likely to appeal as much to collectors as to listeners looking for something genuinely exclusive.

TAD has not yet announced delivery dates or pricing for the Luxe Green Special Set. Further details are expected to follow closer to launch.

What is clear already: if you want a pair, hesitation is not an option. Once these 50 sets are gone, the Luxe Green ME1TX will remain a rare footnote in TAD’s history—and a standout piece in the systems of the lucky few who managed to secure one.
