Compact Class-D amplifiers have quietly become the backbone of many modern hi-fi and desktop systems, and with the new BT20A MAX, Fosi Audio is clearly aiming to push that idea a step further. The formula is familiar—small box, big power, wireless convenience—but here it’s wrapped into a focused 2.1 concept designed for real-world listening setups, not just spec sheets.
The BT20A MAX is built for listeners who want serious output from a minimal footprint. Whether it’s driving a pair of compact bookshelf speakers on a desk or anchoring a living-room system with an added subwoofer, the amplifier positions itself as a flexible hub for modern, space-conscious audio systems. Wireless playback, subwoofer integration, and straightforward operation are all central to the design philosophy.

Serious power in a small chassis
At the heart of the BT20A MAX is a Class-D power stage based on the Texas Instruments TPA3255 module. According to Fosi Audio, this platform enables very high peak power—quoted at up to 300 watts per channel—while keeping heat and power consumption under control. The amplifier uses a feedback architecture designed to maintain consistent performance across different speaker loads, supported by separate power supplies for analog and digital sections and quality ELNA capacitors aimed at keeping noise and distortion in check.

Designed for 2.1 systems
Unlike many compact amplifiers that treat subwoofers as an afterthought, the BT20A MAX is clearly built around a 2.1 layout. Alongside the speaker terminals for passive speakers, there’s a dedicated subwoofer output and a switchable high-pass filter set at 80 Hz. This allows small speakers to focus on mids and highs while the sub handles the low end, often resulting in cleaner, more composed sound. Bass and treble controls are included for fine-tuning and can be fully bypassed for a purist signal path.
Connectivity reflects how many people listen today. Two pairs of RCA inputs cover traditional analog sources, while wireless duties are handled by a Qualcomm QCC3095 Bluetooth platform from Qualcomm. Support extends well beyond basic Bluetooth, including aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and LDAC. In practice, this makes the BT20A MAX well suited for high-quality streaming from phones, tablets, and computers, with an emphasis on stable connections and low latency.

Everyday usability
Operation is kept simple and tactile. Volume is controlled via a motorized analog potentiometer, which can also be adjusted using the included remote. For more advanced setups, a 12-volt trigger allows integration into automated or multi-component systems. To ensure reliability under load, Fosi Audio has added active cooling, using a newly developed fan that the company claims remains quiet even during long listening sessions.
High output, thoughtful subwoofer integration, and advanced Bluetooth support make it a compelling option for anyone looking to build a powerful yet uncluttered audio system.
