Rotel CD14MKII: CD player with high-quality power supply and intuitive controls

In 1989, Rotel confirmed its excellence in digital audio with the release of the RCD-855 CD player. The press was full of rave reviews, with one even calling it “The steal of the century,” and Rotel has never looked back since.

With the Rotel CD14MKII player you can enjoy the sound of your CD collection. Like all Series 14 components, it features a high-quality power supply and intuitive controls.

The design of the Rotel CD14MKII began with careful design of the power supply to ensure stable voltage and ripple-free current for the analog and digital sections separately. The player has the same clean lines and intuitive controls as all other models in the 14 Series, but at the same time it demonstrates outstanding ability to reproduce the most subtle musical nuances in recordings.

The all-metal body of the Rotel CD14MKII rests on the surface using special feet that significantly reduce the transmission of mechanical vibrations. The center of the front panel of the player is occupied by a pull-out loading tray of the drive and an LCD display. On the right there is a button that opens the tray, as well as five playback control buttons (some of them are also involved in menu settings).

The power button with an indicator above it is located on the left side of the panel. To control the Rotel CD14MKII, you use a standard remote control, as well as an application for iOS/Android devices, which requires a connection to the Rotel A14MKII amplifier or Rotel T14 tuner.

During the creation of the Rotel CD14MKII, special attention was paid to the design of the power supply, which provides separate power for the digital and analog sections, respectively, and also guarantees stable voltage and ripple-free current flow.

The model has a high-precision CD drive mechanism, and a Wolfson chip (24 bit/192 kHz) is used as a digital-to-analog converter in its circuit. The device can read regular CDs, CD-R/RW, as well as MP3 files recorded on discs. A carefully selected element base helps the player convey musical subtleties and various shades of sound.

On the rear side of the case there is an analogue RCA output, a digital coaxial output, an input connector for connection via the proprietary Rotel Link system bus, a trigger input (12 V) and an RS-232 interface for integration into a complex control and automation system.
