The company claims that the new software has reduced noise in the audible range by 10 dB and by 30 dB at frequencies above 20 kHz. The firmware development was led by Ted Smith, the company’s chief digital technology specialist. The DirectStream DAC MK2’s programmable FPGA matrix enables such a substantial update.

The firmware file is available for free download from the company’s website, emphasizing that users should not rely on the device itself to download firmware directly from the internet.
