The P1 Mini from Hong Kong-based audio brand Lumïn is derived from the larger P1. Both the P1 and the P1 Mini are a combination of a digital audio player, DA converter and preamplifier in one beautiful and sleek housing. The difference? The P1 Mini has slightly fewer connections, but it does have two rotary buttons on the front. Both devices have a linear power supply and a completely symmetrical analog circuit.
Lumin P1 Mini
Lumïn is a brand of Hong Kong-based Pixel Magic Systems. The first digital audio player was released in 2012 and since then Lumïn has been at the forefront of the development of digital audio players. The P1 was the first device that could also perform the function of a preamplifier. The number of connections of the P1 is so large that not everyone will need this amount. The more compact Lumin P1 Mini offers a smaller number of connections, but otherwise shares the same high-quality construction and is also equipped with a linear power supply and a fully balanced analog circuit that results in a stereo cinch output and a stereo XLR output. Both the P1 and P1 Mini have the same high-quality lossless LEEDH Processing digital volume control that is free from wear and aging.

Like its bigger brother, the P1 Mini is designed to be used as a digital music player, DA converter or preamplifier or all three. The P1 Mini has four digital inputs and an analogue cinch input. You can play music from a NAS, a connected USB storage medium or by using one of the common streaming services on the internet, including Tidal, Tidal Connect, Qubuz and Spotify. Or use AirPlay or the UPnP protocol to send music to the P1 Mini.
The P1 Mini can handle files up to DSD512, PCM up to 384 kHz, 16-32-bit and stereo MQA via the network. The P1 Mini is also a Roon Endpoint. The sound from a television can come in through the HDMI input which supports 2.0 PCM audio decoding, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS pass-through.
The P1 Mini has the optical network connection from the flagship X1. Optical networking, a world first on the X1 and now present on many Lumïn models, offers complete isolation from network noise, because an optical cable cannot transmit noise or hum and is insensitive to magnetic influences. A regular RJ45 LAN port for Gigabit Ethernet is also fitted. This also offers the possibility of making a galvanic separation between two networks and, for example, connecting a NAS directly to the P1 Mini. The P1 Mini includes dual Femto crystal oscillators and the proprietary FPGA clock distribution system that first debuted in the X1.
The P1 Mini comes with a nice IR remote control. The built-in infrared receiver of the Lumin P1 Mini is compatible with universal remote controls, telephones and automation systems.
