Cambridge Audio CXC: CD player boasting high quality components

Cambridge Audio CXC
Cambridge Audio CXC

The Cambridge Audio CXC CD player features high quality components such as a single speed transport and our own S3 Servo mechanism, which is also used in our flagship Azur 851C. This means that the CXC has been designed with one thing in mind – playing audio CDs well. The single speed transport means that the CXC cannot play MP3 or DVD CDs, but it will play music CDs far better than any other disc player of any type due to its more accurate timing. The end result is more accurate playback. Because there are no analogue or analogue digital components in the CXC, it passes the fully digital audio signal to the amplifier or dedicated DAC via the digital output.

Music lovers who are not planning to part with their CD collection anytime soon will probably be interested in the Cambridge Audio CXC CD transport. This device, which is part of the company’s CX series of components, has a high-class design and provides very accurate CD-Audio playback. The player is made in a classic case with a thick aluminum front panel, in the center of which is the disc tray. Under it is a display with large and clear indication, clearly visible from a large distance. Also on the front panel of the player is a minimal set of basic controls.

Cambridge Audio CXC is equipped with the proprietary S3 transport mechanism, which provides exceptional accuracy of reading digital information recorded on compact discs. This transport is optimized for work with CD-Audio, which distinguishes it from universal (usually computer) drives, often used in equipment of this class. By the way, the same mechanism is used in the top model of the Cambridge Audio 851C CD player. The S3 design provides an uninterrupted digital flow with minimal jitter, and is also equipped with read error correction technology. The latter circumstance guarantees confident playback of CD-R, as well as compact discs with damaged coating.

The Cambridge Audio CXC is mounted on an anti-resonance chassis that completely dampens any vibrations, and the power supply of the device has a toroidal transformer of audiophile class. Double-sided printed circuit boards with surface mounting of elements provide a minimum length of signal transmission. The transport is equipped with optical and coaxial outputs, so it can be connected to any external digital-to-analog converter or AV receiver. However, the manufacturer recommends using the CXC together with amplifiers or receivers from the CX series. This will not only allow you to achieve complete stylistic and sound unity of the audio system, but also minimize the number of its components.
