The Accuphase E-700 is an integrated amplifier built for those who appreciate the art of listening. It’s not about gimmicks, fancy displays, or unnecessary digital extras — it’s about delivering pure, uncolored sound through precision engineering and meticulous design. This is a pure Class A amplifier, designed for music lovers who value natural tone, depth, and warmth above all else.

At its core, the E-700 uses four push-pull MOSFETs per channel, providing 35 watts of Class A power into 8 ohms. That might seem modest compared to today’s high-wattage amplifiers, but as anyone familiar with Class A designs knows, it’s not about raw numbers — it’s about quality. The E-700 delivers a kind of effortless, fluid power that brings out the true character of every instrument and voice. The sound feels calm, controlled, and deeply musical, even at low levels.

The Accuphase E-700 integrated amplifier, the successor to the E-650, operates in pure Class A, using four push-pull MOSFETs per channel. This delivers 35 watts of power per channel at 8 ohm speaker impedance.

The Accuphase E-700 integrated amplifier, the successor to the E-650, operates in pure Class A, using four push-pull MOSFETs per channel. This delivers 35 watts of power per channel at 8 ohm speaker impedance.

When pushed, it shows its real muscle: up to 160 watts per channel into 1 ohm, with a damping factor of 1000. That means it’s capable of driving even complex or demanding speakers with ease, maintaining perfect composure and grip on the music. Whether it’s delicate acoustic jazz or a symphonic crescendo, the E-700 keeps the presentation stable, powerful, and beautifully coherent.

Accuphase has always been about refinement, and you can feel that in every part of the E-700’s construction. The Balanced AAVA volume control system ensures the signal remains pure no matter where the volume knob is set. Unlike traditional potentiometers that can color the sound or introduce noise, AAVA uses a fully electronic approach, controlling gain rather than attenuating the signal. The result is precise, smooth volume adjustment without losing dynamic range or introducing distortion.

The amplifier’s internal architecture follows a fully balanced design from input to output, which helps keep the signal path clean and free from interference. Accuphase’s advanced MCS+ (Multiple Circuit Summing +) topology and current feedback technology further minimize distortion and improve transient response. Together, these elements give the E-700 a sense of speed and clarity while maintaining that signature Class A warmth.

All this careful engineering wouldn’t mean much without attention to practical usability. On the back panel, you’ll find five RCA inputs and two balanced XLR inputs, catering to both traditional and high-end analog sources. There are also balanced and unbalanced preamp outputs, so the E-700 can easily be used as either a standalone power amplifier or a dedicated preamp in a more complex system. Accuphase even includes a tape loop insert, a thoughtful feature for those who still use external recorders or processors — a rare sight on modern amplifiers.

There’s no built-in DAC or phono stage, and that’s intentional. Accuphase believes in giving the user freedom to choose. The E-700 is compatible with the company’s modular expansion system, allowing you to install the DAC-60 board for digital sources or the AD-60 board for vinyl playback. This approach keeps the amplifier timeless and adaptable — it’s a piece of equipment designed to stay relevant for decades, not years.

Physically, the E-700 carries the unmistakable Accuphase design language: the warm gold front panel, the symmetrical VU meters, and the silky-smooth knobs that make every interaction feel luxurious. Behind the elegance is solid Japanese craftsmanship — thick aluminum panels, precise machining, and a layout that radiates care and order. Even the power transformer and heat sinks are placed with obsessive precision to ensure thermal stability and minimal vibration.

Listening to the E-700 is an experience that’s hard to describe without resorting to emotion. The sound isn’t aggressive or flashy. It’s balanced, dimensional, and quietly powerful. Voices have texture and realism, instruments sit in a clearly defined space, and the bass is full but never bloated. It’s the kind of amplifier that doesn’t draw attention to itself — instead, it lets the music take over completely.

The Accuphase E-700 isn’t about specs or trends. It’s about the timeless pursuit of sonic perfection — a beautifully built Class A amplifier that honors both the music and the listener.
