HumminGuru is best known for its ultrasonic record cleaning machines (RCMs). The new LUMI Record Stabilizer is a heavy-duty record puck that can be used for every turntable spin. However, the new product also features a strobe speed indicator to determine whether the turntable’s platter is spinning at the correct speed. The LUMI Record Stabilizer is rechargeable. Oh, and it has nine fun light colors to brighten up the spinning record.
HumminGuru LUMI Record Stabilizer: super fun colors
According to HumminGuru, the LUMI Record Stabilizer is a multifunctional accessory with built-in lighting and a speed test function for turntables. The LUMI Record Stabilizer weighs 300 grams, making it ideal as a record puck. This improves sound quality by reducing vibrations and resonances and stabilizing the turntable’s speed.

But there’s more. The LUMI’s integrated ambient light features nine LED color settings (i.e., red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, purple, fuchsia, and an RGB gradient) that each cast a soft, adjustable glow from above onto the turntable. It can also be used as a standalone accent light, for example, to create a different glow with each listening/playing session. Users can press the center button on top of the stabilizer to activate or change the ambient light option. The LUMI automatically powers off after one hour of use to save energy.

Then there’s the built-in speed test. The built-in strobe light and stabilizer disk allow users to quickly check and adjust the turntable’s rotation speed. The LUMI’s rechargeable function and convenient charging station ensure easy charging and clean storage.
HumminGuru LUMI Record Stabilizer: Stroboscopic Speed Test

The LUMI Record Stabilizer requires the included 50Hz strobe disk for a speed test. Pressing the button on the top right side of the stabilizer activates the strobe light at the base. After placing the 50Hz strobe disk on the turntable by positioning it over the spindle, the turntable can be turned on and set to the desired speed (i.e., 33 1/3, 45, or 78 rpm). Aim the strobe light at the spinning disk from about 10 centimeters away and observe the moving markers to check the speed and adjust it if necessary.
When the turntable is spinning at the correct speed, the pattern on the disc appears to be stationary. This visual effect is created because the frequency of the strobe light is synchronized with the speed markings on the disc. If the pattern appears to move slightly forward or backward, the speed is either too fast or too slow. In that case, the user should use the turntable’s pitch control to adjust the speed until the dots appear stationary.

Incidentally, some manufacturers integrate a strobe speed test directly into their turntables. For those who don’t have one, the HumminGuru LUMI Stabilizer can be a useful tool. There are other strobe meters on the market, but they usually can’t also function as a record puck. And they don’t have any fun light effects.

According to the HumminGuru website, the LUMI Record Stabilizer will officially launch on September 29th.
