The iFi Audio iSilencer MAX is a USB-C filter designed to reduce noise and jitter in the signal, housed in an aluminum housing for electromagnetic sealing. This filter has been designed for maximum compatibility and can withstand 20V and 5A electrical signal.
Connecting audio peripherals via USB, while allowing for high-resolution, bit-accurate data transfer, was not designed specifically for audio. It therefore carries both data and power, which means potential electrical interference, such as from a computer power supply.
iFi Audio uses Active Noise Cancellation 3 technology, which involves signal duplication and phase inversion, isolating and eliminating noise if it is present.
USB standards provide error detection systems, but not effective error correction. REbalance technology restores the signal balance to eliminate problems caused by jitter. As a result, the digital signal fed to the DAC is identical to the source signal, no matter what format it is played back in.
