Q Acoustics M7: A classic and compact home stereo system

Q Acoustics M7
Q Acoustics M7

The Q-AVA amplifier is engineered to function in a 2.1 setup alongside the compact speakers from the Life-Style Q7000 series. It features a dedicated RCA output for connecting a subwoofer. With a power output of 2×50 W at 4 Ohms, the Q-AVA is more than capable of effectively driving most bookshelf speakers.

Additionally, this amplifier includes a built-in audiophile-grade DAC, offering one analog input and two optical inputs. Notably, the Q-AVA supports wireless music streaming from mobile devices, equipped with a state-of-the-art Bluetooth receiver that is compatible with aptX and AAC codecs. A unique QMovie mode, activated by a dedicated button, enhances the listening experience by delivering richer, “theatrical” bass, allowing users to appreciate the intricate sound effects crafted by sound engineers in films and video games. The design of the Q-AVA closely matches that of the Q Acoustics 7000 Series speakers, ensuring seamless integration.

A small case weighing barely more than a kilogram contains a two-channel digital amplifier, a DAC and a wireless signal receiver. The functionality of the device is extremely ascetic: you can adjust the volume, switch the equalizer mode from the “music” position to the “cinema” position (bass boost and high frequency roll-off) and connect two digital sources via optics (resolution up to 24 bit/192 kHz), one analog – 3.5 mm jack, and a mobile sound source via Bluetooth with AptX support.

The amplifier produces 50 watts per channel at a load of 4 ohms and is equipped with a subwoofer output, so the owner can assemble a full-fledged triphonic and get solid sound, despite the modest dimensions of the satellites and the electronic heart of the system.

The whole design of the system suggests that it can be placed very easily – the amplifier directly on the shelf under the TV, the satellites on it, or on the wall on the sides – neither one nor the other will take up much space and will be ideally combined in design. Q-AVA is equipped with an IR remote control, the amplifier operates in class D, an external power supply allows you to eliminate network interference. Q-AVA is equipped with 2.1 Q Acoustics 7000i acoustics.

The set consists of two absolutely identical satellites, made in cast aluminum cases, and a fairly compact subwoofer made of durable MDF. The satellites are finished with matte paint (black or white) and have a two-way design: each has a pair of long-stroke 75-mm LF / MF drivers, the diffusers of which are made of paper with a special coating. Between the broadband speakers is a one-inch high-frequency emitter (in this case, the manufacturer uses the so-called D’Appolito scheme) with a ring diaphragm and a phase-aligning “bullet” in the center. All satellites are mounted on an oval stand, the unique design of which also provides for their wall or ceiling mounting. Also, special stands are provided for the satellites, which can be purchased separately.

Under the hood of the newly developed Q Acoustics 7060S subwoofer is a 200mm woofer driven by a 150W Class D amplifier. The speaker is equally tuned to handle and faithfully reproduce both the low-end nuances of music discs and the earth-shaking rumble of a blockbuster movie soundtrack. This design of the speaker means that it is less sensitive to room placement, while the choice of rubber feet and metal spikes with which it is equipped means that it can adapt to all types of flooring, from soft carpet to hardwood. With its easy integration into any room, the Q Acoustics 7060S subwoofer, at just 150mm deep, may seem ‘simplistic’, but it delivers a stunning bass performance.

In the triphonic mode, when listening to music, one can note the high detail of the sound and a wide stage. The main differences of the new product from the “seven thousandth” model are new speakers and crossovers, as well as an updated subwoofer. As a disadvantage of the kit, one can highlight the relatively low power of the subwoofer.
