KEF has expanded its Extreme Home Theater product line with two new in-wall models, the Ci5120QLM-THX and Ci3120QLM-THX. Both new in-wall speakers feature KEF’s 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array along with proprietary Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). The magnetically attached cover grilles are paintable. “Hide the speakers, not the sound,” says KEF.

Both speaker systems are three-way designs. At the heart of both models is KEF’s 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array, a hallmark of the brand’s engineering. This disperses sound evenly throughout the room, ensuring every listener experiences accurate reproduction and balanced timbre. This latest generation features Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), a labyrinthine structure that absorbs 99% of unwanted noise from the rear of the tweeter. The result is a clearer, more natural treble response and an impressively detailed soundstage that maintains audio quality whether you’re watching movies, playing games, or listening to music.
The Ci5120QLM-THX is the larger of the two and features four woofers. The Ci3120QLM-THX has two woofers, optimized for smaller rooms. KEF’s flexible decoupling chassis further enhances clarity by reducing unwanted vibrations and midrange/treble interaction, while a sophisticated tweeter gap damper improves resonance control.

As mentioned, both systems are three-way designs and feature fully optimized crossovers and filters, allowing each driver to operate within its ideal frequency range for a seamless, full sound. The magnetically attached cover grille is paintable.
