JBL Bar 9.1: Powerful and impressive Atmos soundbar

JBL Bar 9.1
JBL Bar 9.1

The top-end JBL Bar 9.1 Atmos system includes a wireless subwoofer with a 300-watt amplifier and an active “transformable” soundbar, which is equipped with two satellites attached to the right and left sides of its body using magnetic mounts. From last year’s model, JBL Bar 9.1 differs in the presence of a Dolby Atmos decoder and additional speakers turned up. The satellites can be “unfastened” from the soundbar (the mounts are equipped with magnets) and used wirelessly in the rear area, which allows you to build a full-fledged 9.1-channel surround sound system.

Each of them is equipped with a built-in amplifier and a battery designed for 10 hours of operation, and the battery can be charged when connected to a soundbar or through the Micro-USB port of a satellite.

The JBL Bar 9.1 soundbar uses six oval 2.25-inch mid/bass drivers and three 1.25-inch tweeters, and the bass-reflex subwoofer has a 10-inch floor-firing woofer. Each satellite contains one wideband 2.25-inch driver. This high-end soundbar supports Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2 and can play music via Bluetooth or over a Wi-Fi network. In terms of connectivity, you have an HDMI input and output – the latter has HDR support, making the JBL Bar 9.1 compatible with Dolby Vision and 4K. Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos and DTS formats are supported. The system has a total power of 510 W and is perfect for both cinema and music, while providing high-quality sound. The model is equipped with a standard remote control, and can also be controlled using remote controls of many brands of TV panels, in particular, such as Sony, Samsung, LG and Vizio.

There is also a built-in equalizer with five factory presets. In addition, the system is equipped with a microphone, with which it can be automatically calibrated in accordance with the characteristics of the room. At the top of the soundbar you’ll find power and volume buttons, as well as a button to select the audio source; A slim LED display built into the soundbar’s front grille shows you what volume you’re listening at.

On the back panel of the soundbar, in special recesses, there is one HDMI input port that supports HDCP version 2.3 and video in 4K resolution (Ultra HD). There is an HDMI output with support for the ARC return channel function, to which it is recommended to connect a TV panel. For older TVs without HDMI ports, there is an optical input. The soundbar is equipped with fasteners for wall mounting.
