Steinway Lyngdorf has unveiled two new built-in subwoofers. The two new subwoofers look very similar, and most importantly, share a different brand name. The Steinway & Sons BWS-110 and Lyngdorf DW-1 are reportedly set to go into production next month.

The new subwoofers are designed to be concealed in a wall. The BWS-110 (BWS stands for “Boundary Woofer Shallow”) joins the Steinway & Sons family as the sixth woofer in the line-up. The custom and patented design is said to be based on an innovative voice coil/cone geometry and suspension, which allows for the highest excursion of the moving space-saving construction. The BW-110 features a 10-inch bass driver with a four-layer voice coil, dual aluminum cone, neodymium magnet and a rigid cast aluminum basket to deliver “impressive bass performance.”

The BWS-110 has a mounting depth of just four inches, but requires some space to be found in height. It is designed for use in any listening room where subwoofers cannot be placed in plain sight. The BWS-110 has a magnetically attached cover that can be painted over so that the subwoofer blends in seamlessly with its surroundings. The BWS-110 also features the company’s Integrated System Approach, along with its RoomPerfect technology to ensure that the speakers work in harmony with the rest of the system and the ambient acoustics.

The DW-1 appears to be almost exactly the same model, at least in terms of its specifications, but under the Lyngdorf brand name, and is the sixth woofer in the Discreet custom installation series. According to the makers, it can work well with the on-wall MH and FR speaker series. Like the BWS-110, the DW-1 also fits into a mounting depth of 10 centimeters and the DW-1 also has a driver with a diameter of ten inches. Yes. it also has a magnetic cover front that is paintable.

The delivery of both subwoofers will probably start in October.
