Elac has announced plans to add a new series of entry-level speakers of seven models to the popular Debut family next fall. The new Debut 3.0 series will include two floorstanding models (DF-53-BK and DF63-BK), as well as two monitor models (DB53-BK and DB-63-BK), two center models (DC53-BK and DC-63BK) and a model for Dolby Atmos (DA43-BK) that can be mounted on the wall.
Elac Debut 3.0: entry-level product line
We briefly walk past the new models from Elac . Starting at the top, the Debut 3.0 series offers a choice between two three-way floorstanding models, the DF63-BK with three 6.5-inch woofers and the DF53-BK with three 5.25-inch woofers. The two monitor models are both bi-directional designs. The DB63-BK has a 6.5-inch woofer (and the DB53-BK has a 5.25-inch woofer.
The two center models are the DC63-BK with two 6.5-inch woofers and the DC53-BK with two 5.25-inch woofers. The cabinets are closed for easy placement, possibly in a cabinet under the television. Rounding out the line is the two-way Dolby Atmos-compatible DA43-BK speaker with an angled baffle, which can be used on top of any of the floorstanders or monitor models or mounted on a wall.
All Debut 3.0 series speakers are finished in black ash wood.
Elac Debut 3.0: aluminum dome tweeter
According to the manufacturer, the newly developed aluminum dome tweeter in the ELAC Debut 3.0 speakers significantly improves audio performance. Aluminum is known for its stiffness and lightness and allows the tweeter to reproduce high frequencies with remarkable clarity and detail. This results in an accurate and immersive listening experience, faithfully reproducing the delicate nuances in vocals and instruments. Additionally, the tweeter’s integrated aluminum phase plug provides a controlled dispersion pattern, delivering consistent sound quality throughout the listening environment.
Elac Debut 3.0: woofers made of aramid fibers
The inclusion of the newly developed aramid fiber woofers in the Elac Debut 3.0 speakers increases the overall sound experience, according to the designers. Aramid fiber is exceptionally strong and stiff, making it an ideal material for woofer cone construction. This enables precise and impactful bass response, with a high stiffness-to-weight ratio ensuring tight and accurate bass response. The result is powerful and well-defined low frequencies with minimal distortion.
Elac Debut 3.0: internal reinforcement of the housing
The internal speaker bracing in the drivers of the Elac Debut 3.0 series members is also a crucial design feature that should improve audio performance. By strengthening the speaker cabinet, the internal bracing reduces unwanted vibrations that can color and distort the sound. This allows for more accurate reproduction of audio, with the sound coming primarily from the speaker drivers and not from the cabinet itself.
Elac Debut 3.0: magnetically attached grilles
The Elac Debut 3.0 series has undergone a significant cosmetic upgrade, improving both its visual appeal and functional design. The magnetically attached grilles offer a sleek appearance without visible mounting (screws, etc.) that can be seamlessly integrated into any home hi-fi system. This feature allows quick removal and attachment of the grilles, suitable for those who prefer to see the drivers. The overall aesthetic was further refined with a sleek and businesslike cabinet finish, adding to the modern and elegant appearance of the speakers.
Elac Debut 3.0: easy to control
The entire Debut 3.0 series has a relatively high efficiency and therefore requires less power from an amplifier to achieve the same volume level as lower impedance speakers, making them more efficient and compatible with a wider range of amplifiers, including lower power amplifiers . This is particularly important in home setups where space or budget limitations limit the choice of reinforcement.
