Stereo unison Arturia Efx REFRACT 1

The company announced the release of the new Arturia Efx REFRACT plugin in an official press release. The development will be distributed free of charge until January 4, 2024.

Efx REFRACT is a “stereo multi-effect based on flexibility.” The plugin combines unison-based processing with the ability to add additional effects and modulations to the signal.

According to Arturia, Efx REFRACT “enriches, textures and transforms” any signal, giving users a wide scope for experimentation. For example, you can create experimental distortions or detuned “out of tune” overtones.

The company notes that the plugin is based on a special effects engine that uses numerous unisons. Efx REFRACT analyzes the signal and duplicates it multiple times using up to eight stereo voices. Thanks to this, the effect is able to create sounds of any size and characteristics, as well as make point edits or radical changes to the signal.

The company cites turning raw stems into expansive and atmospheric polyphonic signals as one possible use case for the plugin. Such transformations can be useful for creating tension in an arrangement or emphasizing important points in a composition, according to Arturia.

Plugin interface

The effect interface instantly responds to signal changes, showing the user what exactly is happening with the sound at the current moment. For more complex changes, the processor provides sections for controlling voices, additional effects, filters and modulation.

To get started, the company has prepared a collection of presets showing all the capabilities of Efx REFRACT. Presets combine all the capabilities of the plugin, showing that it can work as delay or distortion, convert the signal into textures, and so on.

Arturia Efx REFRACT is distributed in VST3, AU and AAX formats. The plugin is compatible with operating systems Windows 10 and later, macOS 10.13 and later (Intel/Apple).

To download the plugin, you need to register on the company’s website, log in to your account and  visit the development page , where the Free Download button is located. After clicking on it, the system will redirect the user to the page for adding a license to your account, where the user must click the Add The License To Your Account button.

After adding a license, you must install the Arturia Software Center launcher, which is required to download and install the effect. The launcher will require you to log in to your account, after which it will display the products available for download – Efx REFRACT will be among them.

The free giveaway of the effect will last until January 4, 2024. After this date, the plugin will become paid, but so far its cost after the promotional period has not been specified.
