Rotel engineers spent two years carefully designing the RSP-1582 and analyzing the list of required features, striving to achieve the best possible audio and video quality for home entertainment systems. The Rotel RSP-1582 AV processor received a 7-inch TFT display installed in the center of its front aluminum panel.
With its help, you can make all the necessary audio/video settings without using an external screen. Below that, there’s an HDMI input with support for 4K video pass-through and a USB port compatible with Apple devices. To the left of the display there are cross-shaped menu navigation buttons, a power/standby key with LED backlight, an input selector, a menu button, etc. On the right is a volume control in 0.5 dB increments and three function buttons.
The Rotel RSP-1582 AV processor is equipped with six Wolfson WM8740 (24-bit/192 kHz) DACs – four separate chips for the center, front and subwoofer channels, as well as two chips for the surround channels. To work with multi-channel audio tracks, a Texas Instruments Aureus TMS320DA808 signal processor with a 10-band parametric equalizer is used. There is an analog-to-digital converter TI PCM1804. Major surround formats are available, as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio. At this stage, the latest Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are not supported, but in the future with the release of new firmware such an opportunity will appear. The built-in Bluetooth receiver with the aptX codec allows you to provide high-quality sound from audio received from mobile devices. There is a Bypass function to bypass signal processing circuits in order to obtain pure analog sound (stereo).
Rear panel inputs: 7 x HDMI with support for 4K video pass-through, 7.1 channel RCA, balanced XLR, 6 x line RCA, phono input (RCA), three each optical and coaxial, asynchronous USB (24 bit/192 kHz). The Silicon Image Sil9573 (2K/4K) chip is used as an HDMI transceiver. There is also a LAN port for connecting to a local network and controlling the AV processor via IP. Outputs: Two HDMI (with 4K video pass-through support, one with ARC and CEC control), 7.2ch XLR and 8.2ch Pre Out (RCA). There is an RS-232 interface, three trigger outputs, an IR input and a pair of output jacks, and a connector for bus control.
Rotel RSP-1582 uses selected audiophile components, incl. proprietary toroidal transformer in the power supply. The model is capable of providing high quality sound and image, corresponding to modern top models of AV processors.
