Marantz SR6015: Impressive 9.2 Channel 8K AV Amplifier

Marantz SR6015
Marantz SR6015

The Marantz SR6015 AV receiver shares the same functional capabilities as its predecessor in the series but features nine channels of sound amplification. The primary distinction from the earlier Marantz SR6014 model is its support for 8K resolution through HDMI inputs, along with the absence of an HDMI input on the front panel. This makes the Marantz SR6015 an excellent choice for constructing home theaters in larger spaces, where the additional channels contribute to a cohesive sound environment. The receiver is compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding, as well as offering virtual emulation for Dolby Atmos Height and DTS Virtual:X sources. Furthermore, the Marantz SR6015 meets the IMAX Enhanced standard, ensuring superior image and audio quality for compatible content.

The Marantz SR6015 features cutting-edge technologies essential for a contemporary home theater setup. Should the system require additional channels, external amplifiers can be connected through the 11.2-channel output from the processor. The AV receiver incorporates HDAM amplifier modules along with premium components in its audio circuitry. For digital-to-analog conversion, it utilizes 32-bit AKM AK4458 DACs. The output stages are constructed with discrete components, enabling the device to deliver a high output current, which is crucial for effectively driving complex acoustic systems.

The Marantz SR6015 features seven HDMI inputs and three outputs, accommodating 8K/HDR10/Dolby Vision video formats and HDCP 2.3 compliance. It supports 4K at 120 Hz, along with Quick Frame Transport (QFT) technology and automatic low latency mode (ALLM). Additionally, the AV receiver includes a comprehensive array of digital and analog connections, suitable for a vinyl record player. The Marantz SR6015 also offers a wide range of streaming services, with network connectivity available through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Furthermore, it allows for direct wireless connections via AirPlay 2 or Bluetooth.

The Marantz SR6015 is compatible with leading voice control platforms such as Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant, enabling users to easily search for information and content. Additionally, the AV receiver can be managed through a dedicated application, which offers comprehensive options for adjusting its settings. With Roon Tested certification, future users will have the opportunity to utilize an alternative system for content management and organization. For those looking to incorporate the Marantz SR6015 into a multi-room setup, the proprietary HEOS technology is available for seamless integration.

Following a firmware update, users will find it simple to connect their Bluetooth headphones to receivers, enhancing their listening experience. The “Bluetooth Out” feature enables users to move around their living room freely while enjoying their selected music source. For nighttime use, to avoid disturbing neighbors or to assist with hearing loss, the volume can be adjusted to a lower level. Once the connection is established, users have the option to listen exclusively through their headphones or to enjoy sound through both the speakers (including surround sound) and headphones in stereo, with separate volume controls for each.
