Métronome Audio has launched its first dedicated music server, called Métronome DSAS, which stands for Digital Sharing Audio Server. Métronome DSAS is the result of a collaboration between Métronome and fellow French software specialist Audirvana. This partnership combines Métronome’s experience in high-end digital music playback with Audirvana’s established music management platform.
Métronome Audio DSAS: built-in Audirvana Studio

The Digital Sharing Audio Server (DSAS) features full integration with Audirvana Studio, giving users complete control over their music libraries and streaming services. A three-year subscription to Audirvana Studio is included, as well as a perpetual license for Audirvana Origin for those who prefer to play local files without streaming from other sources. The Métronome DSAS does not have an onboard digital-to-analog converter.
Speaking of local files, the Métronome DSAS comes factory-equipped with a 2TB internal SSD. There’s an expansion slot with the option of expanding it to 4TB. USB storage is also welcome. Connectivity options include Ethernet (RJ45 Gigabit) and Wi-Fi (dual band).
The dedicated app allows users to manage local and online libraries, create playlists, and access internet radio and podcasts. Audirvana’s software is designed to deliver optimal audio quality. However, current limitations include the lack of file metadata editing capabilities and built-in signal processing such as equalization. Apparently, these are still being worked on.
Metronome Audio DSAS: supported formats, inputs and outputs

The Metronome DSAS supports playback of PCM files up to 32-bit/768 kHz resolution and DSD up to DSD512. Compatibility includes common file formats, including WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, MP3, and AAC.

On the back, the Métronome DSAS offers two USB ports (1 x USB A, 1 x USB C) for connecting external storage. The device also features a dedicated USB audio output for direct connection to a digital-to-analog converter. There are no other outputs, so the Métronome DSAS does not have optical or coaxial S/PDIF connections.
Métronome Audio DSAS: housing

With the DSAS, Métronome Audio continues its focus on combining technical precision with well-considered industrial design. The cabinet is designed to match the aesthetics of Métronome’s other digital components, with a shape designed for easy integration into high-end systems.

The Métronome DSAS measures 250 x 70 x 250 millimeters (W x H x D) and weighs 4.8 kilograms.
