The Stax SR-007 Mk2 stereo headphones feature electrostatic drivers whose design has been experimentally optimized to achieve the best sound quality. In particular, a solution was found that made it possible to achieve high efficiency with the required acoustic transparency of the membranes. The absence of holes on the outer radius of the diaphragm allows for dynamic sound with very deep and focused bass. After attaching the membrane to an insulating synthetic compound chassis, the emitter is installed in a housing machined from a single piece of aluminum. This design reliably protects the electrostatic driver from external vibrations, which is an indispensable condition for obtaining good sound.
The Stax SR-007 Mk2 headphones are equipped with a connecting cable, the conductor of which is made of highly purified oxygen-free copper and has a monocrystalline structure obtained by continuous injection molding (Ono method). In this model, the method of attaching the cable to the cups has been improved, which has reduced the overall capacity of the audio signal transmission channel and increased reliability. The Stax SR-007 Mk2 cups have a swivel mount, which ensures the most comfortable fit on the head. The ear pads of the headphones are made of genuine leather.
The open design of the Stax SR-007 Mk2 headphones in combination with electrostatic drivers allows you to create a three-dimensional and expressive stereo image that other types of models are unable to create. It’s no coincidence that Stax calls its stereo phones “speakers for the head” – they really are capable of providing the same extended and deep sound picture with precise placement of images as a pair of high-end speaker systems.
To work with headphones, you need a proprietary amplifier that generates high voltage for the electrostats. The manufacturer recommends using amplifiers SRM-007t II (assembled on tubes) or SRM-727 II, characterized by an extended operating frequency range, in conjunction with these headphones. These headphones are equipped with a special PRO connector. To use them, you need an amplifier with such a connector.
