Sennheiser Accentum Plus: A transitional link to the flagship headphones

Sennheiser Accentum Plus
Sennheiser Accentum Plus

A familiar shape and a few new features make Sennheiser’s new wireless headphones, the Accentum Plus, a worthy choice between the excellent (yet minimalistic) Sennheiser Accentum and the company’s flagship Momentum 4 Wireless . Unveiled at CES 2024, the Accentum Plus will be available starting February 20 in black and white color options.

The Accentum Plus are virtually identical to the regular Sennheiser Accentum, with the same sophisticated design and lightweight plastic housing. But the Plus gets touchpads like the Momentum 4 Wireless — now, instead of buttons, you can use taps and finger movements on the outside of the right cup to control everything from playback to volume.

As for controls, the Accentum Plus has sensors to automatically pause music when the headphones are removed — not a must-have feature, but definitely handy.

Internally, the Accentum Plus uses the same 37mm radiators as the Accentum. The autonomy of the battery has not changed and is a respectable 50 hours, and Bluetooth Multipoint allows you to connect two devices at the same time.

Active Noise Canceling (ANC) also gets an improvement thanks to the use of adaptive technology. The headphones can now automatically adjust for wind noise (with the Accentum it’s a manual setting), and you can also adjust how much of your voice is transmitted during calls.

Accentum uses aptX HD for high-resolution audio over Bluetooth. However, the Accentum Plus goes further, with aptX Adaptive, a codec that is more efficient and can adjust the quality by gradually changing your wireless signal.

Another nice addition is the presence of a 3.5mm analog input, which is convenient for a variety of music sources, such as airplane in-seat entertainment systems. You can use audio over USB-C for a full lossless connection.

Rounding out the Sennheiser Accentum Plus is a compatible travel case with a lock, an accessory the Accentum lacks. It might be a small detail, but it seems like a bad idea to buy a case later.
