The Fostex TH616 are open-back over-ear headphones made in Japan to celebrate Fostex’s 50th anniversary. The earcups are carved from solid walnut wood.
Open body carved from solid black walnut and shaped like a beam of light
The body is carved from solid black walnut, a premium wood, and has an open design inspired by the fantastic natural phenomenon of sunlight shining through gaps in trees. This machined design not only reduces weight, but also reduces unnecessary resonance. In addition, to eliminate the negative effects caused by hole resonance, each hole has a different area to suppress the occurrence of resonance at certain frequencies.
Biodyna membrane using ultra-fine bio-cellulose fiber driver material
Using years of knowledge, we blend bio-cellulose fibers with other fibers under optimal conditions. In addition to delicate, high-resolution, excellent mid- and high-frequency reproduction, the use of free edges with good linearity allows for accurate reproduction of high-amplitude low-frequency signals.
Ultra-strong magnetic circuit
The magnetic circuit is equipped with a 50mm speaker with 1 Tesla magnetic flux density. Ultra-strong magnetic circuit provides wide dynamic range with low distortion.
High quality and lightweight mechanical parts
Aluminum is widely used for mechanical parts, resulting in high quality and low weight. The use of high-density resin for the manufacture of the baffle made it possible to reduce the occurrence of resonances and achieve high resolution, rich mid-range frequencies and high-quality reproduction of low frequencies.
