Abyss has introduced a new model—Joal—positioned as a more affordable alternative to its flagship designs. Despite the lower price, the Joal doesn’t skimp on innovation or performance.
According to the brand’s press materials, the Joal draws heavily from Abyss’s top-tier models, leveraging years of engineering expertise. At its core are 63 mm planar magnetic drivers, designed in-house, paired with a specially engineered magnetic system that promises precise, powerful audio reproduction.

The Polish distributor, MIP, highlights the proprietary planar technology that Abyss is known for. The large drivers are engineered to deliver a reference-level accuracy combined with a rich, natural tonality. Abyss has also revamped the headband, now crafted from laser-cut, heat-treated metal for enhanced mechanical resilience and everyday durability. The headphone chassis is precision-machined from aluminum using CNC technology, ensuring a sleek, robust construction.

Included with the Joal is a high-purity OFC copper cable from JPS Labs, featuring a custom braided design for improved electrical performance and long-term durability. It terminates in a balanced 4.4 mm Pentaconn plug, and optional adapters are available for XLR and 3.5 mm connections, making it highly versatile for both desktop and portable setups. With a low impedance of 30 ohms, the Joal is designed to perform well even with mobile sources.
