Vincent SV-737: Flagship Class-A Hybrid Integrated Amplifier

Vincent SV-737

Vincent’s Tube Line has expanded with the introduction of the SV-737, a new hybrid integrated amplifier. What sets this model apart from others in the series is its capability to connect through WiFi and Bluetooth. By linking the Vincent SV-737 to your home network via WiFi, it enables streaming and allows for playback of music files stored on a NAS.

The Vincent SV-737 establishes new benchmarks in circuit design. This integrated amplifier comprises two harmoniously paired sections: a preamplifier and a power amplifier. The term “harmoniously” signifies that the characteristics of both amplifiers work together to deliver optimal transparency and spectral stability in audio performance. For technicians, the focus is on an ear-friendly spectrum, characterized by a dominance of k2 within the typical dynamic range concerning frequency and power.

Both sections of the Vincent SV-737 are the latest innovations from Vincent. The design draws inspiration from the flagship SA-T7 preamplifier, which employs a dual amplifier block configuration with a switchable tone control. However, in contrast to models like the Vincent SV-237MK, this amplifier incorporates an additional tube system for each channel, utilizing two dual triodes per channel, totaling four. The voltage gain is achieved through military-grade 6N2P-EV tubes, which exhibit a characteristic curve akin to the well-regarded ECC83 or 12AX7, but with enhanced linearity. Furthermore, the 6N2P-EV tubes are noted for their low microphony and noise levels.

The 6N1P, equipped with high-current cathodes, effectively assumes the roles of both the driver and buffer stages, ensuring reliable performance. It also incorporates the established high-voltage regulation system from the Vincent SA-T7 preamplifier. This system utilizes the 85A2 reference tube, which was originally designed for professional measurement applications, to deliver a low-noise, low-hum supply voltage in conjunction with a semiconductor regulator. The power amplifier is derived from the Vincent SV-237MK, yet several key enhancements have been made. Notably, the input stage circuit has been refined to improve the transient response of the output stage when handling challenging loads. Additionally, the output power has been boosted. The outcome, when paired with the tube preamplifier, offers a reproduction spectrum akin to that of high-quality single-ended triode amplifiers, but with significantly enhanced performance and clarity.

The amplifier’s design thoughtfully integrates both components; however, the connection between these amplifiers can be externally disconnected. If needed, an external DSP processor can be integrated for room correction. The output impedance of the tube preamplifier is significantly lower than that of the Vincent SV-237MK, allowing for a neutral sound when using various connecting cables and input impedances, such as those from a DSP or equalizer.

The Vincent SV-737 was developed with the active involvement of Frank Blöbaum, a Technical University of Ilmenau alumnus with three decades of experience and numerous patents. He has contributed original engineering innovations for Vincent, TAC, Thorens, and other specialized projects.
