PS Audio is releasing a new line of components, Stellar, continuing a 40-year tradition of designing products with ultra-high value and superb sound quality. The PS Audio engineering team, consisting of Director Paul McGowan, Lead Engineer Bob Stadtherr, and Design Engineer Darren Myers, have taken everything they have learned from creating the most advanced products ever – the BHK Signature and DirectStream, as well as the improved Gain Cell and Analog Cell, added the latest version of Class D amplification technology, and ensured that these new components perform to PS Audio’s exacting standards.
PS Audio Stellar S300 is a stereo power amplifier that belongs to the new branded Stellar series. The design of PS Audio Stellar S300 is built around a special circuit based on the Analog Cell, invented by the main developer of the series Darren Myers. In fact, this device has a hybrid topology that allows you to “make friends” with the input balanced section of class A equipped with MOSFET transistors with a powerful high-current output stage created in accordance with class D technologies. As a result, the PS Audio Stellar S300 amplifier combines the grace, warmth and richness of class A details with the linearity, dynamics, punch, impressive rhythm, high efficiency and low distortion of class D.
PS Audio Stellar S300 is assembled in a neat low-profile case and fully complies with audiophile canons and has a circuit design that corresponds to the “dual mono” principle. In this design, each channel has a separate power supply and remains completely independent, which contributes to a significant reduction in distortion. The model has serious power ratings of 300 W per channel at a load of 4 ohms and 140 W at 8 ohms, and thanks to the high damping coefficient and the ability to work stably even with a two-ohm load, the amplifier easily copes with any acoustic system. Among the features of the PS Audio Stellar S300, it is also worth noting a wide frequency range.
The PS Audio Stellar S300 power amplifier has undergone a painstaking process of fine tuning. All those endless hours spent by PS Audio engineers in the Music Room One listening room have resulted in a device that delivers the required precision of sound, treats every timbre shade with due attention and has a wide and deep sound stage.
Along with the usual unbalanced inputs, the amplifier is equipped with a pair of balanced input connectors. For example, such a device can be connected to an external digital-to-analog converter with an XLR output and a built-in preamplifier. The power amplifier will also be a convenient option for organizing a two-wire connection of speaker systems, as it has four pairs of terminals (two pairs for each channel).
