Audio-Technica has unveiled a new turntable cartridge called AT-ART1000X and the new AT-ART1000X has been developed and made in Japan, in line with Audio-Technica’s commitment to providing listeners with an unparalleled analog listening experience.

Audio-Technica AT-ART1000X: MC cartridge

With this next-generation element, Audio-Technica builds on the philosophy and design of the AT-ART1000. This is exemplified by the Direct Power system, which has been further refined and made more efficient for better bass reproduction. Just like in its predecessor, the double moving coil of the AT-ART1000X is located directly above the needle thanks to the Direct Power system. This means that even the most subtle sonic details are clearly reproduced and the audio signal is not negatively affected by the length and material of the cantilever.

The newly developed coils of the AT-ART1000X are rectangular instead of round, providing a larger surface area in the magnetic field. This provides higher output voltage and extended low frequency range for rich, powerful and ultra-precise bass.

Each non-magnetic core coil is made of PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) wire with a diameter of 20 ?m (0.79 mil) and exactly eight turns, hand-wound by skilled craftsmen to create the innovative rectangular shape. The coils are coated with an ultra-thin special film of 25 ?m (0.98 mil) and placed in the tiny opening (0.5 mm) of a powerful magnetic circuit, allowing each coil to generate an output voltage of 0.22 mV with a coil impedance of 3.5 Ohm, despite the non-magnetic core.

The AT-ART1000X features the same high-quality line contact stylus and solid boron cantilever from the previous model, ensuring extremely accurate reading of the record groove. At the same time, the robust titanium base ensures consistency during playback, because in combination with the hard valve and aluminum housing of the cartridge it disperses resonances that can negatively affect sound quality.

Finally, the element is designed to last: a special coating protects the magnetic circuit against corrosion, ensuring stable performance throughout its life.

Price

The Audio-Technica AT-ART1000X is available from today at a suggested retail price of $5.500.
