The Technics SL-1500C turntable is in many ways similar to the SL-1200, but is aimed specifically at audiophiles. So, in particular, it does not have needle illumination, rotation speed adjustment, or strobe marks on the outside of the support disk. But it comes with an installed Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, it also has a built-in MM phono preamplifier and an automatic tonearm lift function at the end of the record. By the way, the MM corrector is powered from its own separate unit to avoid interference.
The Technics SL-1500C player has a classic design for models from this company. Its main features are the use of direct drive from a powerful and stable engine, as well as a proprietary tonearm with extremely accurate tracking. The player’s chassis has a combined structure, its upper part is made of aluminum, and the lower part is made of ABS plate reinforced with fiberglass. This provides excellent resonance damping, and to protect against external vibrations, the Technics SL-1500C is mounted on rubber damping supports with a spring inside.
The Technics SL-1500C turntable features a massive aluminum platter with a rubber coating on the top. This solution made it possible to reliably protect the record from vibrations and make the sound transparent and detailed. The disc is driven by a high-precision motor, the rotational stability of which is maintained by the latest control circuit. The model uses an electronic change in the rotation speed of the plate.
The Technics SL-1500C model has a statically balanced S-shaped tonearm, which has also become one of the most recognizable design elements of models of this brand. Since the turntable is designed for home use, it comes already equipped with an Ortofon 2M Red MM pickup. Another feature of this model is the presence of a built-in MM phono stage. Its circuit operates from a separate power supply and has reliable protection against electrical interference. The presence of a built-in phono stage allows you to connect the player to any linear input of an integrated amplifier or AV receiver.
The Technics SL-1500C is optimized for use specifically in home audio systems, therefore, by excluding some professional functions, its price was made very attractive while maintaining high sound quality.
