Raidho X2.6: High-end floorstanding loudspeakers priced at $21.000

Raidho X2.6
Raidho X2.6

The Danish loudspeaker brand Raidho Acoustics presented its new member of the X-series, the high-end floorstanding loudspeaker Raidho X2.6 , at the HIGH END 2024 in Munich. The brand new X2.6 features a tweeter derived from the TD6, a loudspeaker costing 230,000 euros. It is also built in Denmark with hand-crafted chassis. The exclusivity, highest quality and enormous performance of the V2.6 come at a price: $21,000 per pair must be taken into account for the 2.5-way loudspeaker.

The company’s own ribbon tweeter , like the entire loudspeaker, is designed and manufactured entirely by hand in Denmark. To be precise, it is a planar magnetic tweeter due to the tracks in the foil. The foil is 11 micrometers thin. Compared to a conventional dome tweeter, it has 50 times less mass. The result: practically no resonance or distortion. What you hear is an amazingly clear and natural sound. All the details in the world, but no fatigue, no distortion and no coloration!

Ceramic coated bass drivers

” Finally, a drive unit that can compete with the Raidho ribbon tweeter ,” says Raidho of its bass driver. The base of the diaphragm is an aluminum cone , which is already very rigid and stiff. One of the challenges with aluminum is that it has a sound all its own. To avoid this, all Raidho drivers are coated with a thin layer of ceramic. The coating is applied by a plasma process that bonds the ceramic coating to the aluminum. The drive unit’s motor system is a work of art. A very aerodynamic design with a high degree of ventilation that increases dynamics and lowers distortion. High-strength neodymium magnets allow for ultimate control in a unique design.

The crossover

The heart of the speaker is always found inside. But Raidho really wants to show it to the world because they are proud of their engineering skills with the X2.6. On the back you can see the point-to-point wiring, which is done entirely by hand. Also, the use of Nordost cables in the crossover is highly unusual and shows the enormous attention to detail . Of course, the internal cable is also from Nordost.

The lower end

The speaker does not rest on spikes, but on a very intelligently designed base with integrated decoupling. The speaker itself stands on ceramic balls that are not visible from the outside. This setup works wonders for the sound, but does not damage the floor. The beautifully integrated bass reflex ports can be dampened so that the bass does not overwhelm smaller rooms. The connections may look small and inconspicuous, but are actually designed to make the best possible contact with the cables and the crossover.
