The Monitor Audio SB-2 is a compact soundbar tailored for 50-60-inch televisions. It features three distinct speaker arrays dedicated to the left, center, and right audio channels. The soundbar incorporates a 4-inch midrange/low-frequency driver, a 1-inch tweeter, and Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) speakers within a single section. All of these speakers are uniquely designed using C-CAM material, which is also found in Monitor Audio’s premium speaker models.
The SB cabinets are constructed from high-density MDF panels that are braced internally for maximum rigidity. Additional strength is provided by the proprietary through-the-driver mounts,
which attach the driver to the rear of the cabinet and the speaker basket to the front. JL Audio uses a similar approach with its E-Series subwoofers. The connector panel is recessed, making it easy to wall-mount the soundbar using slots compatible with Sanus TV mounting systems. Monitor Audio offers its own wall-mounting option, but low-profile mounts are sold separately. Silicon feet provide excellent support for tabletop installation. The SB-2 can be used with a subwoofer for the best performance in a large room. For smaller rooms, Monitor Audio says a subwoofer is not required, as the soundbar handles the low-frequency sound on its own.
The Monitor Audio SB-2 soundbar can be mounted on a wall using an optional proprietary bracket. It also works well with universal Sanus mounting systems. The model is equipped with silicone feet for surface mounting. On the rear panel of the case, in a small niche, there are three pairs of screw terminals for connecting the cable, i.e., in essence, the Monitor Audio Soundbar 2 replaces the front and central loudspeaker of a multi-channel system.
The Monitor Audio SB-2 model can deliver 100 W of power and can provide a maximum sound pressure of 108.8 dB. To create a surround sound system, it is recommended to complement the Monitor Audio Soundbar 2 with branded speakers Radius 90, MASS10 or built-in speakers from the Custom Install 100 and Controlled Performance 100 series. As subwoofers to support the bass section, we recommend the MASS, Bronze, Radius models, and for larger rooms – subwoofers of the Apex or Silver series.
