JBL L100 Classic MkII

JBL is continuing to breathe new life into its iconic L100 speakers from the mid-20th century. The first revival occurred approximately five years ago, and the latest iteration was unveiled at the High End Munich 2023 exhibition, maintaining its signature retro appeal. JBL highlights “significant internal updates” that are part of a comprehensive set of enhancements known as the Performance Package. Notably, the 30-cm woofer of the L100 has been designed for improved linearity, resulting in lower distortion levels. Additionally, advancements have been made to the inch titanium tweeter and the 12.5 cm midrange driver. The crossover circuit has also seen enhancements, now allowing for a two-way connection. Furthermore, the speaker cable terminals, which are now coated in “premium gold” for enhanced connectivity, have been made more versatile, according to JBL.

The exterior of the JBL L100 Classic remains unchanged, maintaining its “vintage aesthetic.” This distinctive look is characterized by the use of Quadrex foam-like grilles available in orange, blue, or black, paired with walnut veneer, which has been preserved in its original form.

The JBL L100 Classic MkII is a three-way speaker system equipped with a 12-inch (300 mm) woofer, incorporating enhanced JBL acoustic components that significantly elevate the sound quality of this iconic loudspeaker. Alongside the enhanced performance of the woofer, midrange, and tweeter, the L100 Classic MkII features a revised crossover network that supports bi-wiring and bi-amplification, facilitated by a high-quality terminal cup with dual sets of gold-plated binding posts.

The JBL L100 Classic MkII showcases a beautifully crafted cabinet made of natural satin walnut veneer, complemented by a stylish Quadrex foam grille offered in black, orange, or blue. Inside this appealing design, advanced acoustic technology and high-quality components work together to produce exceptional sound and imaging, guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning music enthusiasts.
