Canton DM 75: Soundbar that combines style and sound

Canton DM 75
Canton DM 75

The sound stand for the Canton DM 75 TV comes like the older version of the Canton DM 55. The Canton DM 75 carries basic Dolby Digital and DTS decoders on board, and is acoustically configured as a triphonic. In other words, this is not full-fledged 5.1, but its emulation using a stereo pair. A good half of soundbars work on this principle.

The Canton DM 75, with its 70 mm height, has only 50 mm midrange drivers and 19 mm silk tweeters on the façade, while four 100 mm woofers are built into the middle part of the body and directed downwards. The acoustic design is bass reflex, with rear-facing ports. If the power or bass depth of the built-in subwoofer is not enough, you can connect an external subwoofer using the low-level output. Switching with the signal source is organized extremely simply: analog RCA, optical or coaxial inputs.

The effects are neatly distributed throughout the room; Every explosion and bullet ricochet is delivered with energy and power, completely capturing your attention in the film’s fast-paced action sequences. The bass is surprisingly deep (deeper than you’d expect) but doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the range.

However, the Canton DM 75 isn’t just about brute strength; she manages to demonstrate agility and subtlety even in such scenes with a powerful and full-blooded sound. In a sequence where Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham compete to see who has the manliest voice, the DM 75 masterfully captures the nuances and textures of each scream. True control over the sound is maintained even in the quietest scenes.

Canton also has special solutions in store for cinema. In addition to surround sound, the devices are capable of performing Lip sync correction if the time of sound output does not coincide with the picture. Since the manufacturer cannot predict exactly where the soundbar will be placed (closer to the floor or high, closer to the listener’s ear level), the menu has three equalizer modes corresponding to different installation options.

The delivery package includes a small remote control, but the sound bar can be taught to understand the signals of any other remote control. Separately, I would like to draw attention to the possibility of training sound bars to commands from another remote control. With this feature, your own Canton remote can be replaced with a TV remote. Without a doubt, this is more convenient than juggling remote controls in search of what you need.

The Canton DM 75 stand is good not only for movies, but also for music, news and daytime TV programs. Compared to a TV, it makes the sound deeper and richer, immersing the viewer in the atmosphere of any action taking place on the screen.

The functionality and equipment of the DM 75 are excellent. It is easy to control using a large LED display and a convenient remote control. Unlike most competitors, which make do with a remote control the size of a credit card, Canton comes with a solid and weighty unit with clearly labeled buttons.

The bass and treble levels don’t require any special adjustments (Canton’s standard balance is fine), but we recommend experimenting with the “Surround” and “Stereo” modes. The latter makes the sound tighter and more focused, while the former increases the openness and spaciousness of the soundstage without reducing midrange precision. The differences aren’t too big, but try both to see which one captures the atmosphere of the movie better.

The workmanship of the Canton DM 75 is excellent. The durable design is made even more impressive by the glass top panel. The metal feet not only add style to the DM 75, but also leave enough room for the two down-firing woofers to move around.

The heavy stand can support a TV weighing up to 40 kilograms. Most flat-panel TVs will fit within this limitation, but you’ll want to make sure the TV stand will sit securely on top of the DM 75. If not, that’s no problem either: just place the Canton on the TV stand shelf.

If you’re looking for a TV speaker with style and great sound, you should check out the Canton DM 75. It’s easy to use, looks better than the competition, and has class-leading sound quality.
