Canton has fully revamped its Chrono SL acoustics series. The updated lineup now features two floor-standing models, the 596.2 DC and 586.2 DC, alongside two bookshelf options, the 536.2 and 526.2, a central channel speaker, the 556.2 Center, and a surround sound speaker, the 516.2.
It is important to note that the Chrono SL series is positioned just below the premium Karat and Vento lines in the company’s offerings, benefiting from many of their advanced technologies. Consistent with Canton’s tradition, the tweeters utilize aluminum, with the driver membrane crafted from an aluminum-manganese alloy. The waveguide is also constructed from this material, enabling a frequency response that extends up to 40 kHz. The mid- and low-frequency drivers in the new models feature membranes coated with titanium and are secured with a three-layer ring suspension. According to the manufacturer, this design ensures precise control of the driver’s movement, even at elevated volumes. The cabinets are made from seamless fiberboard, and the phase inverter port is directed towards the floor. The speakers support bi-wiring and bi-amping connections, with connectors finished in 24-karat gold. Customers can choose between two elegant finishes: black and white lacquer.
The sound masters of the Canton Chrono SL series love to attract attention. Their specialty is natural, distortion-free sound transmission even at the highest volumes. The characteristic, sophisticated housing geometry, the massive multi-layer laminate construction with its inherently low self-resonance, as well as the bass resonant openings facing downwards, ensure a grandiose stage show. From a technical point of view, the entire palette of innovative technologies is implemented here – ceramic tweeters, low- and midrange speakers with an aluminum membrane, as well as the wave grooves patented by Canton. Visually, the loudspeakers leave a lasting impression thanks to high-gloss surfaces, meticulous workmanship and elegant solutions in the smallest details, such as the magnetic fastening of the textile covers.
