The company announced the release of the new free Baby Audio Beat Slammer plugin in a mailing list for users. The development is a parallel compressor based on the previously released Baby Audio IHNY-2 plugin.
The developers note that many compressors are created in order to influence the signal carefully and quietly, but Beat Slammer is not one of such devices. The plugin is “the ultimate compressor for compressing drums, beats, and entire mixes.” According to the description on the website, the product is designed to “pump up” tracks and “adding muscle to weak mixes” through compression.
The Beat Slammer is based on the previously released Baby Audio IHNY-2 parallel compressor. Users can compress the signal more than using a conventional compressor. Additionally, the instrument is equipped with a knob for selecting the ratio of the processed and unprocessed signal, which allows you to select the appropriate amount of effect during processing.
The amount of compression is selected using the round XY pad in the center of the interface, which is also responsible for setting the ratio between the compressed and uncompressed signal. Apart from the knobs for controlling the output signal level and gain compensation, there are no other controls in the plugin.
Beat Slammer is distributed in VST3, AU and AAX formats. The plugin is compatible with operating systems Windows 10 and later, macOS 10.15 and later (Intel/Apple).
