Denon AVC-S660H
Denon AVC-S660H

The Denon AVC-S660H AV amplifier differs from the Denon AVR-S660H model primarily in that it lacks an FM tuner. Positioned as an entry-level option within Denon’s “S” series of AV receivers, this model supports 8K/60 Hz resolution and features five high-current amplifiers with discrete components, making it suitable for low-impedance speaker systems. It boasts a maximum output of 135 W per channel (6 Ohm). The amplifier is compatible with a variety of contemporary surround sound formats, including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Additionally, the Audyssey MultEQ system calibrates the connected speakers, enhanced by Dynamic EQ for frequency response optimization and Dynamic Volume for volume adjustment.

The Denon AVC-S660H receiver functions as a streaming device, allowing users to access audio content stored on local network media such as computers or NAS servers, as well as on external drives connected through a USB port located on the front panel. It supports playback of high-resolution audio files in formats including WAV, ALAC, and FLAC (up to 24 bit/192 kHz), as well as DSD files up to 5.6 MHz. Additionally, it offers access to a variety of online services, including Tidal, TuneIn, Deezer, and Spotify Connect.

The Denon AVC-S660H model features integrated Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi, enhancing its reception capabilities. It supports the new AirPlay 2 protocol, enabling the creation of a wireless multi-room system utilizing iOS devices. Additionally, the receiver can function within the proprietary HEOS wireless ecosystem, allowing users to manage all connected devices through a single application. This setup facilitates audio streaming from tablets, smartphones, local networks, and various streaming services. When configuring a multi-room installation with HEOS components, users can enjoy the same track playing simultaneously in multiple rooms or stream different music to selected areas.

To operate the Denon AVC-S660H, users can utilize the app or remote control, but it is also beneficial to engage personal voice assistants such as Google Assistant, Apple Siri, or Amazon Alexa, all of which are compatible with this AV receiver. The receiver is configured using the user-friendly Setup Assistant program.

The Denon AVC-S660H receiver features five HDMI inputs that are compatible with the latest HDCP 2.3 protocol, supporting 8K video and advanced video standards such as HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. It includes a single HDMI output that utilizes eARC, enabling the transmission of multi-channel audio formats like Dolby True HD directly from the TV to the receiver. Additionally, this model is equipped with an MM phono preamplifier for connecting turntables, and it offers five pairs of color-coded screw terminals for speaker connections.
