Reavon

Many experts believe that Reavon players will take the very place that was vacated in the UHD disk player market after OPPO and Pioneer left it. This hope is confirmed by flattering reviews in the European specialized press and the already received EISA award for “Best Ultra HD Player 2021 – 22.” In any case, comparisons and comparisons with the heroes of past years are inevitable.

The company itself states that its devices are designed from scratch and are original products. The official version is supported by the fact that Reavon players do not have complete analogues in terms of layout and switching among previously produced models. Moreover, Reavon initially set a slightly different task: to create specialized devices designed primarily for playing optical discs with priority on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Therefore, all other functions, in particular the media player and streamer, were considered secondary. This narrow specialization is partly due to the fact that the Reavon brand is owned by the French company Groupe Archisoft, which also owns Zappiti, known for its software and high-end media players. But it’s not only that. The parent company has been operating for about 30 years, most of this time it has been selling music and video discs, AV equipment, it knows the market and its needs very well.

The brand’s product range currently includes two models: the Reavon UBR-X100 digital transport and the Reavon UBR-X200 full player with analog audio outputs. The first device can, if desired, be compared with the Sony UBP-X700 transport, but this is a frankly budget model with a weight of only 1.4 kg versus 6.2 kg for the Frenchman. The main difference from the OPPO UDP-203/UDP-205 family is that Reavon devices are built on the MediaTek MT8581 SoC, while OPPO players are built on a customized version of the same chip. What was changed and why is not reported.
