Elipson

The Elipson company was created in 1938 under the leadership of Joseph Leon and at first focused on professionals. Having achieved success in this area, Elipson decided to expand the circle of users of their products and offered the same high technology and beauty of performance to ordinary listeners. At the same time, innovative developments of spherical enclosures began to prevent the spread of excess sound waves, which subsequently brought enormous success and became not only a hallmark of the company, but also a symbol of the expansion of French style in the interior in the 1960s and 1970s.

The star of French electroacoustics of the 60s and 70s of the last century, Elipson became a pioneer in the field of sound reproduction and audio system design. Created in 1938, the company focused on professional users, but later began producing innovative speaker systems for home use. Having achieved recognition in the professional community, Elipson has entered new territory, aiming to bring the same aesthetics and technological excellence to a wider range of users. At the same time, experiments began with spherical-shaped acoustics, which brought resounding success. Over time, the spherical body became primary. Thanks to its futuristic design and captivating forms, this acoustics served as a symbol of the dynamic advance of French style in the interior.

Beginning in 1973, the company began to focus more on the consumer market rather than the professional market. As a result, there is greater emphasis on the design and finishing of the speakers. In the 90s of the last century, Elipson turned its attention to home theaters and switched to the production of speakers in classic “rectangular” cases, which, as it later turned out, was a wrong decision – a departure from the fundamental principles is in vain for few people. Now Elipson is back to square one – literally and figuratively. An important vector of the company is the lifestyle segment.  Elipson acoustics have become a part of everyday life and are used as standard equipment in many radio and television studios in France. In 2008, the company was acquired by young entrepreneur Philip Carr, a fan of the Elipson style. He wanted to revive the avant-garde design and perfect sound that made the company so widely known in its time. In 2009, Carr offered cooperation to designer Jean-Yves Le Porsche, inviting him to the position of head of the creative team. The new collection, the fruit of their joint efforts, confirms the noble origin of Elipson technology. Incomparable sound quality is achieved through the use of modern materials and original body shapes, thanks to which Elipson speaker systems fit perfectly into the modern world. Every year, Elipson equipment gains more and more new fans, becoming an integral part of the home interior.

Today Elipson is part of the AV Industry group, which also includes the brands Ateca, Eltax, Lumene, NorStone and Tangent. It is noteworthy that from its very foundation Elipson began to deal with spherical speakers, and considerable attention was paid to both design and physics – thanks to this shape, standing waves, sound reflections, etc. are compensated in the speakers. For four decades, Elipson worked closely with French television, producing studio monitor speakers for him.  Recently, to improve the quality of varnishing, the company purchased an expensive machine in France and sent it to a factory in China. The “balls” use coaxial speakers of our own design – the bass/midrange emitter is coaxially aligned with the tweeter. Elipson makes wall and ceiling mounts, as well as floor stands, for its speakers. Keeping up with general trends, the company introduces wireless technologies into its products.

Thus, the active Planet LW model, equipped with a 50-watt ICEPower amplifier from Bang & Olufsen, is capable of playing music via the WELL (Wireless Elipson Lossless Link) wireless protocol from PC/Mac computers and Apple gadgets, adapters for which are included in the package. In addition, products with Bluetooth data transfer functionality are in development. An updated version of the speaker with a hub, among other things equipped with a Bluetooth receiver, is also being prepared for release.
