Boston Acoustics

Boston Acoustics was founded in 1979 by engineer Andy Kotsatos as a company to design and manufacture home audio systems. A former designer for the legendary KHT and Advent loudspeaker manufacturers, Andy Kotsatos had extensive experience in the field of acoustics, which was embodied in Boston Acoustics products.

The structure of Boston Acoustics is built in such a way that each division has an independent research base and at the same time has the opportunity to use the developments of other structural units of the company. Despite the apparent diversity of Boston Acoustics’ areas of activity, the work of each of its divisions is closely interconnected with the others. In 1983, the first car audio products were released under the Boston Acoustics brand.

Currently, the direction of car speakers and amplifiers is no less important than the release of models for the home. The Boston Acoustics range of home speaker systems includes several independent series, differing both in style and function, and in price category. Recently, as part of its expansion, Boston began producing its own AV electronics for the home. In addition, Boston Acoustic produces built-in and all-weather speaker systems.

Boston Acoustics independently develops and designs all products to best suit the chosen design for its application. The result of this work is more than 40 patents in the United States. The company’s engineers use the most modern computer modeling methods, which provides maximum development efficiency and design accuracy (Boston Acoustics is a leader in its industry in the use of computer design). Working on each new model, Boston Acoustics engineers adhere to three basic principles: – create products that will have the best characteristics in their price segment; – make products simple and inexpensive to install; – ensure the highest reliability of all models. The sound of Boston has already become a legend. The signature, recognizable The Boston Sound is the most natural sound, smooth tonal balance from octave to octave and deep bass.

In 1996, the company significantly strengthened its market position by opening a new office in Peabody, Massachusetts. It is here, on an area of 16,000 m2, that not only the administrative departments and design bureau are located, but also all the company’s production facilities.  All acoustic systems and electronics assembled on the production line are tested for compliance with the reference sample. Therefore, any product that bears the Boston Acoustics logo is not only a traditional American sound, but also a real American assembly – a guarantee of the quality and reliability of all elements. In August 2005, another important event occurred at Boston Acoustics. D&M Holdings Corporation has completed its acquisition of Boston Acoustics, making the company its subsidiary.

D&M Holdings is a Japanese corporation formed in 2002 as a result of the merger of two companies producing high-end audio-video electronics, Denon and Marantz. Since that time, several more companies have been acquired, including the famous manufacturer of acoustic systems, Boston Acoustics. After the merger of the companies, D&M Holdings Corporation rebranded. Following the new name, logo and advertising slogan, new Hi-Fi audio and video components, speaker systems and professional electronics were released onto the market. The new name of the holding was D+M Group.

Today, Boston Acoustics independently develops and designs all products, taking into account the optimal fit of the selected design for its application. Despite the apparent diversity of product categories, each division of Boston Acoustics works closely with the others. The structure of Boston Acoustics is organized in such a way that each division has an independent research base and at the same time has the opportunity to use the developments of other structures. This organization of work resulted in more than 40 patents registered in the United States. The company’s engineers use the most modern computer modeling methods, which provides maximum development efficiency and high accuracy in design. For over 30 years, Boston Acoustics products have been renowned for their signature superior sound and aesthetic design. During this time, a number of legendary acoustic series were released, such as E, HD, VR-M, and Lynnfield. Today, the Boston Acoustics range of home speaker systems includes several independent series, differing both in style and purpose, and in price category. The company also began to actively develop the market of multimedia solutions for home entertainment in the form of active acoustics and network microsystems. In addition, Boston Acoustic’s catalog includes all-weather and built-in acoustics.
