Italian manufacturer Riviera Audio Labs has launched a new mono power amplifier called the AFM70. The AFM70 operates in Class A and can deliver 70 watts per channel into eight ohms. The preamp stage features a tube, while the output stages are semiconductor.
The AFM70 mono power amplifier from Italy-based Rivera Audio Labs features a hybrid circuit that operates in Class A. The manufacturer has incorporated all its core principles into the AFM70, meaning there is zero feedback, the hybrid design incorporates tubes for voltage amplification and solid-state drives for power, and pure Class A operation. The AFM70 delivers 70 watts into eight ohms in Class A, doubling this to 140 watts into four ohms, which, according to Rivera, allows it to drive loudspeakers with exceptional naturalness.
The voltage gain in the preamp stage is provided by a pure triode tube operating in Class A. The output stage consists of twelve semiconductors, each capable of dissipating 150 watts. The power supply for the final section, which uses an oversized transformer rated at over 400 VA, employs a sophisticated Pigreco filter and distributed capacitance. The total filter capacitance is over 100,000 µF.
The deliberate absence of current-limiting systems guarantees the amplifier’s stability, even under complex loads. Thanks to the AFM70’s refinement and powerful performance, it is suitable for use in both single- and multi-amplifier systems.
Price and delivery information have yet to be announced.
