Musical Fidelity has introduced a new phono amplifier, the M8x Vinyl. The designers state that the M8x Vinyl enhances the well-respected M6x Vinyl, providing better phono preamp performance along with various improvements intended to offer an exceptional listening experience.

The new M8x Vinyl from Musical Fidelity is built on a fully balanced, discrete architecture. While the M6x Vinyl also employs a discrete design, the M8x Vinyl enhances this concept with distinct amplification stages for both the positive and negative signals in each channel. This advancement leads to more than double the number of discrete components and a printed circuit board that is nearly three times larger than that of the M6x Vinyl.
Additionally, Musical Fidelity has revamped the gain stage, implementing a three-stage configuration. This improvement results in increased gain, reduced noise, and minimized distortion. Users can adjust the gain from 40 dB to 69 dB, facilitating seamless compatibility with various cartridge sensitivities.
The manufacturer indicates that enhancements include a larger power supply featuring discrete input filtering and the elimination of DC components. Additionally, an encapsulated Super Silent Power Transformer reduces the likelihood of external electromagnetic interference.
Users can also adjust the RIAA curve using knobs located on the front panel. The M8x Vinyl is capable of accommodating both the DECCA and COLUMBIA EQ curves, alongside the standard RIAA equalization. Its functionality is further improved by a dual split-passive EQ stage and a two-step subsonic filter, while auxiliary inputs and adjustable loading facilitate precise compatibility with the connected cartridge.
Housed in an all-aluminum chassis, the M8x Vinyl exudes the build quality that Musical Fidelity is known for. Its aesthetics perfectly complement the existing M8 amplifier series, making it an ideal match.
