Pro-Ject Audio Systems is enhancing its Pro-Ject Pick it Series cartridge range with the launch of a new budget-friendly moving magnet (MM) cartridge, the Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO, developed in partnership with the esteemed Ortofon A/S. The manufacturer claims that the Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO offers an unparalleled price-to-performance ratio.

According to Pro-Ject Audio Systems, the defining feature of the new Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO is its dynamic performance. Furthermore, this new cartridge is designed to seamlessly integrate with a wide array of electronic systems, thanks in part to its impressive output voltage, which is a minimum of 7 mV.

The Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO cartridge is equipped with an elliptical-ground stylus featuring a r/R 8/18 µm rounding, which facilitates precise music reproduction and a rich sound stage. The manufacturer highlights the use of a robust cantilever, making this cartridge suitable for DJ applications as well. As is typical with moving magnet cartridges, the stylus can be easily replaced when needed.

For optimal performance, the standard resistance for MM heads is set at 47 kOhm, with a recommended input capacitance ranging from 150 to 300 pF. The manufacturer advises maintaining a tracking force between 1.6 and 2.0 g, with an ideal setting of 1.8 g. The Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO cartridge has a weight of 7.2 g.

The Pro-Ject Pick it MM EVO moving magnet cartridge has been released and is offered at a recommended retail price of $149.
