You can now pair the\u00a0Sony DualSense\u00a0controller with your PS5, PS5 Pro, Apple TV, and Google TV simultaneously and seamlessly switch between devices. This feature was added in the latest system firmware update available for PS5 and PS5 Pro. Updating the system firmware also updates your controller’s firmware.<\/p>\n

After updating to PS5 system software version\u00a025.06-12.00.00.43,\u00a0your DualSense controller can remember pairings with up to four devices, including TVs, media players, PCs, tablets, phones, and more. Previously, pairing a new device would delete the old one from the DualSense memory.

Setup is simple and only needs to be done once, so you can get started right away. After updating the firmware, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Make sure your DualSense controller is turned off (hold the PS button for 8 seconds).<\/p>\n

\u2013 Press and hold the PS button and one of the action buttons (Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square) for more than 5 seconds. The light bar will begin to flash slowly; continue holding until the flashing becomes rapid.<\/p>\n

\u2013 On your device, open Bluetooth settings and select DualSense. The connection should now be established. The action button you held down determines the device’s “slot,” such as the Square button.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Now try turning off the DualSense, then hold down the PS button and the corresponding action button for 4 seconds. The controller will connect to this device.<\/p>\n

To return to the PS5 console, hold down the PS button and the triangle button for 4 seconds. This works whether the controller is on or off.<\/p>\n

Repeat the pairing process for the remaining devices (up to four).<\/p>\n

This functionality will be especially useful in homes with multiple devices, including Smart TVs, Apple TVs, and Google TVs with local or cloud gaming support. It replicates the functionality of the Microsoft Xbox controller, although the latter is limited to pairing with only two devices simultaneously.<\/p>\n

A new system firmware update also adds a new\u00a0Power Saver\u00a0feature , which will likely prove particularly useful on the upcoming PlayStation hybrid console, which will compete with the Nintendo Switch.\u00a0“Users can enable the Power Saver feature via Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver.
